XPeng's electrical set is the clearest example here of an architecture caught mid-transition. The X9 still routes body functions through separate controllers and carries its air suspension electronics in the same harness, while the GX has collapsed the same work into three domain controllers and a single head-up display assembly. Both generations are in stock.

Four groups of electronics

The list divides into sensing, computing, actuation and cabin. Sensing is LiDAR modules shared between the G6 and G9, a fender camera and streaming rearview mirror cameras. Computing is where the interesting comparison lives: the P7+ pairs a cabin-and-driving integration controller with a dual Turing board, the G9 runs a standalone autonomous-driving module, and the GX splits the vehicle into left, right and tail domain controllers with a separate intelligent-driving module. Actuation covers the air suspension electrical side, including ASIMCO and AAM compressors, twin-cylinder 12V pumps and distribution valves, which sit electrically with the rest of the harness even though they do mechanical work. The cabin group holds centre displays, a rear overhead screen, head-up display assemblies, amplifiers and the body control module.

Which chassis carries what

Model choice changes the wiring story. The X9 is the most conventional: a separate body controller, separate left and right domain controllers, air suspension supplied by a pump and valve pair, plus a 5G telematics box. The G9 and G6 use LiDAR on the roof for driver assistance and keep their centre displays as standalone units. The P7+ is the transition point, with a cabin-driving integration controller on a dual Turing board. The GX is the newest, with left, right and tail domain controllers, a T-BOX connectivity module, a head-up display assembly and a streaming rearview mirror replacing the conventional mirror.

Units are photographed as removed with their original brackets and connectors. Compressors and valves are drained before dispatch, so expect light residual moisture at the ports.

Common failures and what to verify

Start with the computing hardware, because that is where the money is. On domain controllers, count the connector positions and note whether the housing is cast or sheet metal, since cast housings track the newer generation. Turing-based boards should be checked for part-number and revision markings rather than assumed equivalent to the G9 module, because the same function appears in several revisions. LiDAR units are the most failure-prone item in the group: confirm the optical window is free of chips, and treat any unit that has been dropped as a calibration risk. On the air suspension side, twin-cylinder pumps repay a comparison of cylinder count, supply voltage and whether the inlet filter is serviceable, while distribution valves should be checked for corrosion at the connector, the usual failure mode on underbody-mounted parts. Telematics modules are region-locked in some cases, so confirm the market before ordering a replacement.
